Moon Camp As background, the proposed Moon Camp project lies just east of Canyon Road. It was originally proposed as a project of 92 lots, on both sides of North Shore Drive, and as a walled and gated community. Friends of Fawnskin and other concerned citizens vigorously opposed such a massive development and a revised, but still dense, project is now seeking County approval. The revised project calls for 50 lots, all on the north side of North Shore Drive, and a relocated marina of apprximately 55 slips. It is unclear what the impact of this project would be, which is part of the reason there will be an environmental impact report (EIR). See "Recent News" for more details on the EIR.

Marina Point Development/aka Cluster Pines. San Diego Developer Irving Okavita proposed a dense project of 132 condominiums on 12.5 acres of currently undeveloped lakefront land with a 75-slip marina. Friends of Fawnskin and the The Center for Biological Diversity have obtained an injunction against this project, following a protracted lawsuit. See “Recent News.”

Real Estate agent Mark Sobczyk has proposed to develop approximately 30 acres above Canyon at the end of Deer Trail with approximately 22 homes (now zoned for one home in 30 acres). Friends of Fawnskin has written to the county to request that the planning process include consideration of the steep slope of this parcel, which poses fire and run-off risk to the homes on Canyon, the constraints imposed by groundwater issues. and the impact on the local environment, including Bald Eagles. No date for a hearing has been set by the Planning Commission.
